Health & Seniors

Senior citizens are incredibly important members of the District 2 community. They are our parents and our grandparents, people who have contributed to the history of the area and our families in overwhelming ways. It is our responsibility to provide them with the resources necessary to thrive in the community they have spent their lives in.

Jorge’s great-grandmother migrated to District 2 after the 50’s and lived until the age of one-hundred and eleven. A phenomenal and wise woman, Jorge lives by her advice of utilizing a more holistic approach to providing for our senior citizens.

Jorge believes that there is too great a gap between our community’s children and seniors. By integrating these two communities, through their day cares and senior centers, we can create an environment built on the concept of intergenerational care which has been shown to reinstate a greater sense of purpose in the lives of seniors while teaching children important values.

Jorge will also prioritize the well-being of senior citizens by ensuring that they are thoroughly informed about their rights to health insurance. He will also advocate for sufficient funding of multilingual and LGBTQIA+ senior centers and organizations to ensure a great quality of life for these communities. Demanding that Access-A-Ride services be equally distributed throughout the city is also very important to Jorge to make travel easier and more efficient for seniors with disabilities.

There are very less people like Jorge who are so much selfless in serving the people that they don’t bother if they are at loss in their social welfare activities. The social welfare activities of the advocate Jorge have been stated by the for paying honor and tribute to him
